The Song of Slaanesh: Part IV

Last month the paint pots weren’t opened, this month the painting station hasn’t even made it to my desk. At least a much needed holiday gave me time to plan out my 1000 point army.

Unfortunately it has been another slow month in terms of army progression, seems I have had no time at all to sit down and get some modelling done. What’s worse is I went on a one week summer holiday with Carrie and our close friends, although I had an awesome time the holiday almost broke the bank, which means I couldn’t afford to spend this months budget. I will continue with the purchasing next month.

Do not fear though, all is not lost. Whilst I was on holiday I had a bit of spare time and was able to write up my first army list. Although it’s been a while since I have fielded anything on the tabletop I think I have managed to craft a well rounded force. The list is 1000 points, and suitably vague as to not upset the GW legal team.

Emperors Children Army List (V1)

  • Chaos Lord
    • Mark of Slaanesh
    • Pair of Lightning Claws
    • Daemon Armour

    120points

  • Chosen Retinue
    • 6× Chosen Aspiring Champion
    • 6× Mark of Slaanesh
    • 6× Power Weapon

    168points

  • 3× Chaos Space Marine Squad
    • 6× Chaos Space Marine
    • 6× Mark of Slaanesh
    • 5× Sonic Blaster
    • 1× Blastmaster
    • 1× Lightning Claw
    • 1× Aspiring Champion

    164points

  • Daemon Pack
    • 6× Daemonette

    90points

  • Dreadnought
    • Dedicated to Slaanesh
    • Blastmaster

    130points

Total: 1000points

So that is the list, I have no doubt that it may undergo some tweaking, probably after I have the chance to get some units on the tabletop and see how they perform. It is at least a target to aim for, and will give me an idea of where I should be spending my budget.

The theory behind the army goes a little bit like this:

  • The core 3 squads of marines can hold ground and fire a volley of 15 shots and a heavy blast or advance forward and still shoot a respectable 12 shots.
  • The Chaos Lord can advance up a flank with his retinue or hang back and counter attack an early charge from the enemy.
  • The Daemonettes can be summoned to where ever they are most needed.
  • The Dreadnought will be used to engage larger units, tie up nuisance units or generally run riot.

But again, it all sounds good on paper and the true test will be fielding the army against another gamer. I can’t wait for that, so I guess I had better get painting!

If you have any pointers that could help me improve this list then please let me know by leaving a comment below.
